đŸș What is Buhund? (and what’s the story)

Buhund is a survival horror where you’re a dog lost in the woods at night. No guns—just smell, hearing, sight, and a presence that won’t let you go.

The story in 1 minute

You’re a farm dog. A sheep breaks away from the flock and you head out to find it before night falls
 but darkness arrives fast.

In the forest you hear bells, catch shadows between the trees, and sense scents mixing with the mist.

You’re not alone: something is following you.

You also find strange marks that look like warnings
Your goal: find the sheep and get back, reading the world the way a dog would.

Characters (no spoilers)

  • You — the dog.

You don’t fight: you survive. You learn paths, recognize scents, and hide wherever you can.

  • The sheep.

The reason you ventured out. Its scent is your guide.

  • The stalker.

It doesn’t scream; it shows up when you least expect it. Sometimes you hear it first, sometimes you smell it, sometimes you glimpse it from the corner of your eye.

How does it feel to play?

You sniff trails that appear—and fade—if you hesitate.

You listen to catch hints without making noise (and decide if it’s worth not running).

Watch your step: leaves crunch, wood creaks, mud saves you.

There’s almost no HUD: the world “speaks” through sounds and small, diegetic cues.

What makes Buhund unique

Gameplay subject to change
Gameplay subject to change

  • Horror through vulnerability.

You play as a dog: every step is a bet between noise and safety.

  • Diegetic signals.

Minimal UI: you learn to read marks in the environment, distant sounds, and tiny “crumbs” at ground level.

  • PSX vibes with modern care.

Dark, minimal, and readable; textured audio (creaks, bells, panting) to build tension without cheap jumpscares.

  • Little mysteries.

Not everything is explained; there are stories hidden in how you choose to move, wait, or cross a river at midnight.

Thanks

Thank you for all the support and love for this project—especially the interest I’ve seen in the recent reels. It’s a huge boost to keep pushing Buhund forward.

More updates soon. đŸ¶đŸŒ™
